Update

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

snowholerevised.jpgA quick update to reassure my in-laws that i am not going to go off the deep end in any literal sense.  Eric mentioned that they expressed some concern… I’m just a stay-at-home mom to a 14 month old. Right now, I look forward to bedtime for all, so that we can wake up to a new day. It doesn’t help matters that we are all still recovering from being sick over a week ago.

And just as it will all fall back into place, we’ll get it all wound up again as we head out the door on Saturday for a quick 3 day stay at DisneyWorld with my parents. I really am super excited. Our flight should be interesting though (crazy baby on our laps and forcing him to sit down and still! I will use some Christmas money and head out for some new toys to keep in my bag!! Hopefully we won’t be a headline on AOL news for “family kicked off of flight for screaming toddler.”

I just thank my dear friend Allison for always being my guide, through nursing school and especially now through motherhood.  “who cares, you’ll never see any of these people again…”  She just shared that she struggled through ages 1-3 with her two that are barely a year apart, she just like me was/is a ’single mom’ only her husband Ed travels mon-thur, unlike Eric who just lives at the hospital on some months! Thank you Allison, she also mentioned in parting that ’she’ wouldn’t have it any other way, but there is nothing wrong with “one.”  :)

Here’s to a good week!

a mother’s nerve

Friday, January 4th, 2008

in the latest attempt to ‘journal’…. max took two nice naps yesterday; i approached it a little differently this time, reading a book, singing a lullaby and then put him down. we did this this morning as well, a very nice 1.5 hour nap. Long enough to get the tree down and start organizing the ornaments.

the afternoon nap, not so well…. there is a particular protest cry that max does when it is clear that he is not going to nap. it works my last nerve. it’s a whine/wail/cry with periods of silence that make you think he just might bring it around. I attempted to lay down myself for about 30 minutes and now after one hour of no sleep for max; i am downstairs, im going to eat my lunch and i just made some coffee.  well, i suppose now i will have to go get him; the protest is just that convincing… and by our sleep guy rules, it has been an hour.

anyone up for babysitting????

Reconnect continued

100_3653.jpgHe finally fell asleep, just now. I had to go sneak a peak and capture it on film. So cute, ‘upstairs’ and ‘downstairs’ Jellys! The next one is Christmas at my parent’s house with our snowlady. We had so much fun!100_3614.jpgHappy New Year, in case i neglected to mention. The Christmas cards are still waiting to be sent. I’ll work on that too… I thought that it would be nice to get a card later in the year now, to help those, like me who are withdrawing from the Holiday’s. (Oh my GoD! max just made some cranky noises in his crib!!! this has only been 45minutes, he will need to get it together and get back to sleep!)I miss being home, i miss my family, and i miss the snow.

let me get these pictures posted and then get on with my laundry and straightening and plan for an activity once this kid wakes up. we were out on a 40minute walk this morning and his feet were freezing when we got back!!

Catching up

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

I feel the need to blog, or ‘journal’ i suppose. it has been quite some time since the last post, the Holiday’s came and went.  It has been a long morning and I’m ready for Max’s nap… that he is taking right now. I will get the pictures updated, but just need to vent first. We went home to Rochester for Thanksgiving and had a great time, busy busy and even got to see the Argentine’s too. We had an afternoon at the Strong Kids Museum and an evening with my family at the McDade house. Max was as good as he could be for the car trips, we decided for Christmas that we would split up the trip and spend the night (ohhhhh what a baaaaddd idea!)… Eric got sick once we got home; and now we are all sick again once we got home last Friday the 28th from spending Christmas in Oneida. We are a little bitter about it, but making progress on getting better. Max has his first ear infection (bilateral no doubt too) and is on his first amoxicillin, the pediatrician said that we aren’t going to head down a slippery slope of a chronic ear infected kid if we chose to treat this one… let’s hope not.

We missed out on New Years on our block, we woke up at 11:50 to watch our entire street fill with people to watch the ‘ball drop’ about 10 feet down on a light pole and one of our neigbors came out as baby new year!

I think we are finally making our way towards keeping a ‘real budget’ we were living 500$ above our means, nice huh? thus Lisa’s maternity fund took a big hit over the last year. I think I’m ready to get back to working a little more, for the money and my sanity. This kid just keeps me going all day long and my mother pointed out this morning, that i’m frustrated because he isn’t accomodating ‘my agenda’… yes indeed. he is refusing a morning nap lately, although it’s all been thrown off with being sick.  I answered a craigslist ad for an art student looking for part time babysitting work, she already got back to me and i’ll connect with her in a couple of weeks when we are both in town. My next step after the blog is to call the staffing coordinator at the hospital i work at to see what the upcoming needs are…

let’s save this before i lose it, ‘it’ being the blog and my sanity!
