Thought that I would throw in an oldie from exactly one year prior! Incredible, who would have thought Max and Daddy would be dressed alike, sitting on the kitchen floor a year later?

Or, sharing pasta with mommy at Petit Louis?

This picture is a good profile shot of those chubby McDade cheeks, and also of the big goose egg to Max’s forehead from taking a digger headfirst into the refridgerator drawer.

deep breath…. what a year….

hi all, what a weekend! We had a blast! last night was much merriement here at our place with 6 of our closest friends, a pizza, wings and mussels party. beer was growlers filled with the beer from a local fine dining brew pub, and cake was a triple layer (two chocolate, one vanilla) with buttercream frosting made by mommy, pizza was by mommy too. eric made one batch of mussels and our friend holly made another. max loved it!

today after our fog cleared, we ate lunch at the farmer’s market… then began putting up our christmas decorations, we have to be ready to go the saturday after thanksgiving. we’re behind compared to others on our street, we could use our cousin robert’s help!

and finally for dinner, we took max to a very great french restaurant. we are stuffed! he did fabulous and impressed his fellow diners with his wondeful behavior and his candle in the pot de creme what a good baby we have!

so we wind down this birthday weekend, eric needed to go get some fresh air and walk a bit of his dinner off. we’ll sleep well tonight. our savings account took a good whopping this week, but it felt great, thanks to the encouragement from cousin deidre and my mother… I won’t look back! And hopefully I won’t keep getting cancelled at work!

We see our good friend, Dr Ganunis tomorrow for Max’s one year check-up. Only two more well child visits with him, we will miss him dearly. Thank God we had the opportunity to have such an excellent pediatrician for our first. Let’s hope tomorrow’s shots are only a minor inconvenience for him.

it’s crazy, thinking about where i was last year at this time, on this day. most likely sleeping. i was up to about 18 hours a day of sleep!

eric and i were just thinking about little maxi quirks over the last year. how eric used to ‘wind max down’ for bed, reading to him in our bed while max watched and listened. then would kick his feet determined to stay awake, not being able to fight it and finally falling asleep. eric would then transfer him to his crib and we would tip-toe all around downstairs since his room had no door and shared the skylight with the stairs. this started our eating dinner in front of the TV, which we actually have come to enjoy. we set the coffee table, and sit on the floor. it’s actually much nicer than the cluttered dining room table.

halloween was fun, max had two parties that week. he got a really good chin scrape too while playing on the porch while the mass of trick-or-treaters came. you cannot truly appreciate what trick-or-treating is on our street unless you experience it. you have to sit at the bottom of the stairs and it is a constant flow from 4:30 until you run out of candy. which this year was 8pm for us, last year was 7:30. one piece per kid and we had 20lbs of candy.  people have to come home from work early to be prepared! check back for our christmas updates. thanksgiving is bypassed on our street. the christmas decorations are already up in preparation for the saturday after thanksgiving and our lighting ceremony.

max is also full on walking now, he has his big boy shoes that grammie and grandpy mcdade bought for him when they visited a couple of weeks ago. we’re thinking talking is just around the corner. he has one sylable sounds and pseudo words now!
