fast forward baby

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

max is advancing by leaps and bounds it seems… waving ‘bye’ or ‘hi’, getting to sitting on his own, pointing to things now. After we had gotten him to bed/sleep the other night, i went upstairs for something and peaked in on him and he was sitting in the dark at the end of the crib looking out towards me. Scared the crap out of me, as the light from the street light in our bedroom was shining in on him through the bars!

still so unpredictable with sleep and naps. i’m getting a little tired of catering to this baby’s idosyncrasies, so i refer to one of our sleep training books.  trying to establish a better nap schedule… when chatting with my mom she said, that she would get us down around 9am and 1pm… which is exactly what Dr Weissbluth says.  wish it was so easy. this is day three of attempting this… so far so good for 0900. we’ll see how the day goes.

eric is super busy with work. he will be spending August getting some work done and getting to a few interviews. Hooray, this is getting exciting again! Northwestern (Chicago), Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minn) and UofFlorida, Gainsville. Max and I will still be up in NY between Camp and Oneida.

So as July wraps up in Baltimore, the heat took a little break this week. All days below 90 and nights below 70! Will continue to keep everyone updated.

8 month musings

“Oh Lisa” as Eric will often say to me. “Oh Daddy,” I wrote to Eric this morning… We have been having so many nighttime wakings lately. It seams that once you get a baby to sleep better at night, they get their shots, or they go on a trip, or they get sick, or they are constipated, OR they get teeth. Well, here we are at 8 months and two days and Max is getting his third tooth, a top one this time.  Teething pain can be so non-discript, because you don’t see anything! As in our case, until the morning.  Poor Max, he has been on tylenol and motrin so many times since May. So my crabby baby just got some motrin and a nice chilly teething bisquit.

So Max and I sit here watching the Tour de France. Hooray. We love July in our house! And are so bummed when it’s done :( . You can pretty much watch each stage all day long from 8:30-11:30 at night. So if you need to take your baby to the wading pool, or take a nap with your baby, you can and not miss a sprint.  Keep those riders safe….

I attempted to go to work last night for 4 hours and the hospital didn’t have me on the schedule, too bad for them; I got two hours of inconvenience pay.  I know for sure I am confirmed tonight, so let’s hope I can get a good night’s sleep when i get home at 11:30. We should be good now, now that we can probably determine what has been Maxi’s issue the last few nights!

Long time no write

It has been a while, i had a great post ready to go, began to download my pictures and the computer froze, so I haven’t been back… Max is 7.5 months old now, and is rearing to go! We just got back from a trip to Santa Cruz for a family reunion honoring what would have been my grandparents 100 birthdays, on my mom’s side. It was incredible! I was so nervous for flying without eric and the time change effect on max, but he sailed through beautifully.  It was so awesome to have so many family to help out. There were so many stories shared, lots of hugs and love and so many memories. Northern California is beautiful, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. We have been back a week and I miss everyone so.

Eric’s applications for fellowship went out last friday, so hopefully soon he will hear from the programs. This is exciting! It has been so much fun each step along the way, waiting to see where we will be heading next… maybe back cross-country??

I worked my first shift since last Sept! this past weekend. It felt great to be back with the kids doing my thing, a little rusty on the charting aspect of it all… Eric was home with Max and he said that they had so much fun, even though Eric is sick.  I will be saving my money to purchase things I/we want/need, so no more dipping into savings, which feels good.  I am glad to be back with my baby though.  I also learned that I can pick up 4hour shifts from 7p-11p, which will be much cooler than taking up a whole day away from our family time on the weekend…

July will be a time to hang out and chill out, we have been so busy since May, three plane trips, Max is a pro! Our vacation this summer will be up at our camp the first week of August, and if all goes well, Eric will be doing an externship in Philly for the remainder of the month, and Max and I will be at camp and Oneida.

Shot out to our friends Brian and Julie Green, who just welcomed their new baby Evan into the world!

And lots of love to our friends Ed and Allison in Colorado who need vibes of healing for a crummy relapse of Ed’s kidney disease.  We hope to see them in Upstate NY in August.

I’ll see about updating with pictures… so long as the computer doesn’t freeze again.
